The Mount's No. 1 'Phan'

Former Mount head coach Jim Phelan plans to watch tonight's NCAA First Round game, better known as the dreaded "Play-In Game" even though he was too nervous to watch Wednesday's Northeast Conference Championship game. What he will not do though, is offer complicated advice on preparing for a number one seed, even though he has done it twice himself.… Post the First Comment

Keep it Browntown

Staff Editorial
To the victor go the spoils. That's you and your staff, Milan Brown. Or should we say, that's Milan Brown and his staff, President Powell and Board of Trustees. It has been nine seasons since the Mount won the Northeast Conference Championship, and the transition from one great coach (Jim Phelan) to one that has proved to be nothing short of very good (Brown) is complete.… 1 Comment

Brad Gerick: Shafted by selection

I can't tell you much about Mississippi Valley State, except that it's a state school in Mississippi that's probably located in a valley. And that its men's basketball team's RPI is 228 (the worst among NCAA tournament teams,) its record is 15-15 with no NCAA Division I non-conference wins, it played three non-D I teams at home, it plays in the worst-rated conference in the NCAA and it will not be in Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday for the dreaded "Play-In Game" against Coppin State.… 1 Comment

Match-ups favor Mount St. Mary's

Guards Tywain McKee, who will probably be the best player on the court tonight, will not shy away from the spotlight as he proved in Saturday's MEAC Championship.
